Broccoli

Hello. I grew broccoli for the first time this year. I have been harvesting first the big heads and then the smaller heads for several weeks now. What do I do next? Should the plants be dug up? Thank you!

When they stop producing fresh shoots just pull them up and plant something else. 😊

  • Thank you so much for replying and for the information!
  • Don’t plant Brassicas in the same spot, remember three year  ‘crop rotation’.

  • Thank you so much, Kate.harri -- very useful information!
  • My pleasure Grayfleur!

    From BBC gardening:

Rotate your crops annually to avoid disease. Don't grow brassicas on the same plot more often than one year in three, as moving the crop helps avoid club root and other deseases

Old grannies saying do not eat fresh broccoli from the garden when breast feeding. You will go through a lot of nappies. My wife can confirm this.
  • i had broccoli produce fresh florets for 6 month in cool years.
