    Thanks for that SV, at least I know if they do disappear they might well come back! 
  • Our long tailed tits tend to come for either the fat balls, the half filled fat coconut or a fat rectangle shape slab - in a metal container.  Gone are the days when all tits would eat peanuts - I no longer put them out - they turned mouldy and were hardly touched by the birds. I hope that helps @Jennym83

    I have found the same thing - the peanuts are left untouched and they turn mouldy.  I blame it on the sunflower hearts:  they are much easier for the birds to get at and to eat, and so they don't bother with the hard work of pecking at the peanuts!  (It's only my theory, but there was a time when peanuts were the favoured food).
