My sisters dog just cost her £200 for an emergency trip to the vets after he ate a whole top tray of a box of chocolates! She was saying how strange it was that her rabbit who is clearly a less intelligent animal, knows what will make it ill and avoids toxic plants but that dogs don’t seem to have the same instinct? I’d that correct? I know my tortoise is quite particular and of course cats are really fussy. Do other gardeners have issues with dogs and poisonous plants? I am just interested as I don’t have s dog myself
Glad your puppy is feeling better, did the vet say why she might had such bad case of diarrhoea?
The theobromine in chocolate is poisonous to humans too but you would probably have to eat several kilos of the stuff, which would make you feel hideously sick but not necessarily from the theobromine! Dogs can’t metabolise it fast enough and also have a sweet tooth!
