Lemon tree

i have a young lemon tree which seems to be dying. It is in a large pot inside my apartment next to an orange tree of the same age which is doing very well. I water once per week and feed every 2 weeks.

They will both do better outside during summer. Put the pot on feet and give it a good soak and let it drain through.

At this time of year, you can leave them outside. They much prefer the high light levels. Keep them against a southerly wall. You can post a photo so others can make more comments. Leaves dropping off can happen and not always a signal of death.

It’s possible you are overnight watering it. I was told with mine to wait until the top few inches were dry and then give it a whole watering can (with citrus feed every time). Sometimes that can be one week, but sometimes they go 2/3 weeks if we’ve had rain.
They also much prefer being outside as long as temperatures are well above freezing. I believe it’s something to do with the humidity - it’s the air is often too dry inside.
  • Thank you everyone. I’m going to put them both up on the roof terrace and try that. I will of course bring them back in when summer ends.
