I bought plants from Thompson and Morgan. I wouldn't use them again. Delivery was atrocious (they posted plug plants the Wednesday before Good Friday and they arrived 8 days later, half dead. Nothing did well- at least 50% died or didn't flower. Delivery dates weren't met. Some of my order were 2 months late and customer service was very poor. Need I say more.
  • Thompson and Morgan really good never had a problem. Buckingham nursery excellent some of the cut price super markets can be good as long as you look through them well we have a horticultural college near us that are excellent value but looking at your address probably no good for you
  • I have had 7 trees and 160 hedging whips from Ashridge trees and they've been really good.

Roses I would also recommend David Austin. Have several and all been good.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

If you want the lowdown on T&M, click on ‘recent discussions’ then search for Thompson and Morgan - an eye opener!

Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.

I’m another huge fan of David Austin roses, you could buy them in store or by mail order. I have done both and in terms of mail order it couldn’t have been any better. The roses are always in tip top condition with no signs of any disease or insect infestation. Healthy foliage, well established roots and quite often in full bloom (this is good for instant impact but some others might argue would distract the plant from establishing its roots after being transplanted into your pot - I have had both full bloom and freshly pruned ones and both seem establish quickly)

The delivery part has been really good too, you could specify a delivery date, including Saturday at a slight premium. Many other nurseries do not offer this which is a huge inconvenience given most people have to work and can’t be at home all the time to receive the delivery.

I've tried Thompson and Morgan and also wouldn't recommend them. Yougarden were ok but I'd probably only use them if there was nowhere else.
I've had a great experience with Thorncroft clematis nursery
