Last spring I was given some Dhalia tubers . I had never tried them before. However, the tubers I was given  turned out to to be some very blowsy gaudy orange flowers with  heads the size of small tea plate.

I might go and try some more gentle and discrete Dahlias. Possible the "Bishop of". range. In the season.

'You must have some bread with it me duck!'

  • Ha @Iamweedy rooting through the shed this year I found a tub of random bulbs and tubers.  Clearing out a bed,  I planted the lot, and got three dahlias, a lovely white, a pale yellow and a blowsy pink and orange monstrosity which survived Lorenzo.  Will be relocated somewhere out of sight next year!

Knock it off marc - your statement is both untrue and nasty.
It's true love. I mentioned months ago about a guy couple on gardeners world and he keeps going on about it calling me anti gay

Please, this thread is supposed to be about bargains. If you want to keep putting fuel on the fire, go to the potting shed.
If you ignore things completely they will eventually give up and go away.

It's very brown. What would you do with it? I cant think of much that would go with it.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I think yellows and oranges would look good with it - especially late summer/early autumn. Daisy type plants - heleniums etc, and things like crocosmias. Whites too - like echinaceas.

The only thing i'd say is - I seem to remember that site being shown to be a bit poor, but don't quote me on that. If I could find that thread about the Good Guys - it may have been on that...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
