Comfrey liquid differing results with sealed and unsealed containers

Hi,
I’ve made comfrey liquid a few times using the method where you cover the comfrey with water. I’ve noticed that I seem to get different results when I use a sealed container to when using an unsealed container. Unsealed I get the dark brown liquid as described in many instructions for making comfrey liquid. However when sealed i get a much lighter cloudier liquid and some white mould like deposits.
has anyone else had similar results? Will the different liquids be equally nutritious? My instinct is that the darker one is better, although they both stink just the same!
