A garden is a great healer

On Monday I was coming home from doing my usual shopping, looking forward to spending the rest of the day in my garden. That nearly did not materialize, I was waiting to cross the road, practically opposite my house. A car was coming down towards me, all fine, another car in the opposite direction swerved right across and hit him side on. It was with such force and a loud bang, that it made the car turn sideways, mount the kerb, and come towards me. I literally froze on the spot, and stupidly put my arms out thinking that I could stop the car. Thank god, it did stop, missing me by about 6 inches. Nearby neighbours came out, emergency services were called, thankfully nobody was seriously hurt, but we had to wait over an hour for any one to attend the accident. My husband was playing golf, we managed to get hold of him and he came straight home. People stayed with me until he came home. I went straight into the garden, sat on a chair, had a cup of tea. And a butterfly flew by me. I may have mentioned before the reason what made me get into gardening. I lost my niece to cancer at the age of only 19. Before she passed away, she said she wanted to come back as a butterfly, on the day of her passing it was a hot day, windows were open and a butterfly flew into her house. And the day of her funeral a butterfly flew into the church. Every time I see them in my garden I call her name. I am just grateful that nobody was seriously hurt in that accident. And I feel sure that a certain somebody (my beliefs), was looking after me on that day. My garden is my sanctuary, my world, my passion, my love, my everything.

It's only when things like that happen, that we realise just how precious life is.
I can only imagine how terrifying that must have been, but l can understand completely the comfort you gained from your garden and the passing butterfly.
We wake up in the morning and have no idea what the day has in store (in spite of our best laid plans).
    Sending you my best wishes.

What a sad time that must have been for your and your family to lose someone so young. Gardening is a great healer and the wild life and insects also a comfort to us. A friend of mine had a problem of saying words beginning with B so butterflies became flutterbys she loved her garden and I wish I could have a garden like the one she created. At her funeral outside while looking at the flowers a butterfly settled on the flowers and her young granddaughter said look nannies here, well of course she was but not in the way she ment. I'm glad you were not hurt but I expect rather shaken. Enjoy your garden it's a great healer and from looking at your beautiful garden you do enjoy it.

Look after yourself, send you my best wishes.
