Hollyhock

Can anyone help please. I have several hollyhock plant grown from seed last year but something seems to be eating them. I can’t see any bugs or caterpillars on the leaves but they are looking like lace. Does anybody know what it is and how to cure it. Thanks

That will be slugs or snails, can’t be cured, you can try sheep’s wool around the base of the plants, they don’t like walking over that.
You could cut those leaves off but if the slugs are living in the soil they will have another go, I think those are rust spots on the leaves, hollyhocks are not an easy plant to grow.
