Courgette problem

This year I decided to try the yellow courgettes as well as our usual green ones, but the yellow ones just seem to be growing into ball shapes or not growing at all. Is this a pollination problem? I've looked at the flowers but they all look the same.
Even the green ones aren't doing very well. Last year we had so many we had to keep making soup. Can anyone advise please?
