I have one in a pot, that's in its second year. UK. Had plenty rain so far! It's green and growing well from mid to top, but bottom half young leaves are wilting. I have read that this is normal. Can anybody confirm this for me please?

It's hard to tell without seeing a photo, but if your plant is in full sun with new leaves, sometimes the leaves droop while the sun is on them and then they recover after a short while when the sun is off the leaves.
The leaves will soon toughen up once they get used to sunshine.

There are quite a few plants in my garden with droopy new leaves atm - due to the sun

If you don't think it's that then try and provide a pic :)

They can get a bit tatty at the bottom, I grow them amongst other tall plants to hide the bottom leaves.
