Which Manure/Conditioner-Westland or 6x or Levington?

My soil is clay and gets very dry in summer (think concrete) and I am trying to get as much structure and bulk into it as possible.
Last year I used Levington Organic Blend Farmyard Manure which I found very good.
I have also seen (but not used) 6X Natural Fibrous Fertiliser and Westland Gardeners Soil Conditioner
Does 6X have the same sort of bulk as the Levington and Westland?

Which do you use?

I use 6x carefully every Autumn. No bulk but as they say " use handfuls not barrowloads". It is a high Nitrogen feed and not to be used for increasing flowering which prefers potash. I wouldn't be without it but it doesn't half stink.

It is the 'bulk' that I am looking for mostly.
I used chicken manure pellets on the garden one year and they did stink!!!!

  • I've been using the Country Natural branded stable manure for the last few years and it has been great. Seems really well composted and not stinking the place out. Unfortunately it has been getting trickier to get hold of as it seems Westland et al have been making garden centres carry exclusively their manure. But seems to be available online too: http://www.thecompostcentre.co.uk/smallbags.html haven't bought from that site but will probably do if it becomes unavailable in retail.

I used westland compost for the first time this year, never again! It was so fine it was like using talcum powder and when watered floated and took a long time to settle. Horrible stuff. So be careful when changing types of soil improvers.

Also used westland manure and when I opened the bag it smelled, which other types of manure hadn't before.
  • I agree @purplerallimi bought a bag of Westland manure out of necessity and it was very stinky and felt not well composted. Never again if I can help it.

I know the Levington manure doesn't smell and also seems well composted but still nice and  bulky.
Think I will stick with that for now.
    Thanks for your insights!
