Are these tree suckers or something else?

Hi everyone,
I’m not green fingered at all so need help. Are these tree suckers? They are coming from the bottom of a plum tree and have had a couple of similar things sprouting nearby. A couple of them have grown fairly tall. Any help appreciated.

Pull them off as low as you can get . If you cut them off they resprout.  It is coming from the rootstock, so will not give the same type of plums as the top of the plant.
  • Ok. And is it likely they would also sprout from soil surrounding the tree nearby? Not directly from the tree itself? Had something similar there

They will also come up from roots some feet away, especially if the root is damaged by digging.
