Looking for some quality Raspberry canes or does on call them plants?

I bought some Raspberry canes from two Internet organisations early this year.  One lot were about four feet in height and have fruit on them which is not edible.  The other source sent canes about eighteen inches tall and only three out of the twelve has shown any sign of life. 

So, could anyone recommend a reliable supplier?

    I bought mine from the Organic Gardening Catalogue.  I planted ten canes four years ago, I neglect them shamefully, and I get more raspberries than I can eat.  Sorry, can't remember the variety, but they are summer fruiting, you can get varieties that don't fruit until the autumn.

    I got bare root raspberry canes plus blackcurrant and whitecurrant bushes from https://www.blackmoor.co.uk  in February. All well-rooted, sturdy plants, delivered promptly. I went for Joan J thornless raspberry canes which are an early autumn fruiting variety (already producing fruit) because they are easy to grow. Autumn fruiting ones just get chopped to the ground after fruiting is over, no fuss, plus they suit my climate better than the summer ones. Polka is another well-thought of variety I considered, but am pleased with my Joanies.

    Canes get lifted in September. They then hang around until they are sent out, so whoever you pick, I would get the order in early and plant as soon as you get them. If you can't plant immediately, put them to soak overnight in a bucket of water. I would not order canes after xmas, they have  been hanging around, drying out, and then go into cold soil.

    I think if you buy direct from a specialist fruit nursery like Blackmoor, Chris Bowers etc., they are lifted to order and sent out fresh - my Feb ‘canes’ had a really good, living root system and established really rapidly. Worth doing that as they are no more expensive and will last you for decades, whenever you buy them...

    Many thanks for your help. I found them on the Web and have asked them for a price for sufficient Raspberry canes for s twenty foot strength.  As a confused dyslectic I have now discovered that Raspberry has a "P" in it.
