I’m a first year allotment grower, should I worry about my runner beans?

    It looks like a virus of some sort but I am sure someone out there will have a less scary idea.

    I had this on my French beans this year. Not sure what it is but they weren’t very vigorous plants anyway so I pulled them out and started again with a more vigorous variety. I had this last year (different area though) and didn’t seem to affect the crop. Maybe someone else on here can shed a little more light?

    Are there any sap sucking insects like aphids on the underside of the leaves? They would weaken the plant but as you already have flowers I would leave them and just hope for some crop. I think it too late to start now from beans.  Does anyone else on the allotment have a problem as well?

    No aphids they are doing real well covered in flowers

    Could it be bean yellow mosaic virus which can be transmitted by aphids?

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
