Hi folks, I'm new to this. Could anyone identify this plant for me please? Many thanks Tony.

Yes.  Pretty, but if it likes you it'll seed everywhere...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Welcome Tony  :) As B3 says, it's valerian otherwise known as centranthus ruber .

It's a slightly battered looking Centranthus Ruber.

It self seeds very freely but the seedlings are easy to pull up and to avoid that dead head the flowers as they go over.  I like it a lot. Others do not.

  • This was pulled from a crack in the path and the lady told me that it does go a bit mad. My wife and I do like i.
    Thanks

Here is mine with a rose.

The rose is in a pot and the centranthus is in a gap at the bottom of the fence.

  • That looks great. I actually was given 3 but my delinquent dog nicked 2 before I had chance to plant them.

    Bless, obviously trying to help!
Main thing with them is to keep deadheading, they will set seed in the blink of an eye .
