Im learning about plants we have here at the garden centre by looking at information on the rhs website.    If i look up a plant and it says it's deciduous, but it isn't deciduous where I live I'm in north west wales.   How do I find out whether plants are perennial deciduous in my area.

    In some conditions - such as a very mild autumn and winter, some plants do not lose all their leaves or die down as completely as they would in a harsher environment. But conditions can vary widely even in a small area: you will have heard of frost pockets, micro climates and so on and wind exposure makes a real difference. The best way to find out is to look at plants growing in gardens near yours and to experiment a bit. Look very closely at the conditions in your garden and compare them to others in places round about. You will easily see wind or frost damage, growth that is lush or restricted and so on. The more you look, the better you will know what to expect.
