Cut the weeds down ready for grass seed but...

Just spent the morning cutting down some weeds thinking that I would spray some weed killer on the roots and then sow grass seed mid/late September, but A1 Lawns just told me that the weed killer i've ordered is to be sprayed onto the leaves of the weeds!!!!

Do I really have to wait until they all grow back?

This what the area was like before 8am today:

This is what it's like now:

Yes - weedkiller needs foliage in  order to work. You'll have to wait till they regrow.

If you don’t get a good cloudburst of rain in the next couple of days give it all a thorough soaking or three with a hose every other day for a week ... that’ll get the weeds growing ... it may turn out to be a good thing as lots of seeds will germinate which might have otherwise waited until you’d sown the grass seed. 👍
