My African Violet just collapsed, on inspection i found tiny maggots between the root head and the leaf stems (some were up the inside the stems) what are these things and how to prevent them please. Thanks Taffy.

    They can be a real nuisance, Tony, and more prevalent on potted plants. Nematodes seem to be the best way forward in dealing with them.
    Chuck those for the birds to eat too, and if you can clean all the soil from the plant roots, and re pot, it might be ok. Keep an eye out each day for any more that emerge.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Hi, I always spray for them in The greenhouse but never gave indoor plants a thought ! Duh
