Onions ready?

I'm new to onion growing, and I'm not sure if some of the onions on the following pictures are ready to harvest.

    yup, when they fold over like that you can lift them and dry out the tops

    I was hoping they'd be a bit bigger. Sigh :( I swear I got a mixed variety where they do grow bigger. Oh well.

    hot weather doesn't help, mine were not big enough to be edible last year, and respectable but small this year.

    Oh snap, I had mine in the greenhouse! Is it better to grow them in the shade or an area that receives less than 3 hours sunlight?
