Winter ideas

Hi. I have this west facing sloping bank at the back of my garden. From spring to November it is full with a range of colour and growth but through the winter very little planting.  Any suggestions for perennials/shrubs I could plant that will provide winter interest without impacting on the perennials (if that’s possible)?

    There is a wide range of winter flowering shrubs. They are very pretty while in flower, although not spectacular in terms of summer plants. But their real strength lies in their scent. When everything is grey and gloomy and summer seems years away, they send their perfume over the whole garden, lifting the spirits and gladdening the heart. I think I value them as much if not more than any summer show stopper for that reason.

    Witch hazel/Hamamelis, Sarcococca, winter jasmine, Forsythia, hellebores, snowdrop, crocus.

    For me it would be the cornus alba with the red stems, I have some nice silver grasses in amongst them which is a good combination in the height of winter  :)

    Anything with red stems shine in the winter sun. I have a red stem dogwood ( gives leafy height in summer) and a twisted hazel for interest in winter.
