Elephant Garlic

Evening all. I have over the last few years grown elephant garlic with roaring success. I have this year fallen foul of a specific type of rot where the neck of the garlic weakens and causes it to break easily. I have dug up the lot. I'm not sure if I just caught it early or there is yet further damage to be found but the bulbs seem unaffected. They are smaller than normal and the wet weather has caused some to burst but otherwise they seem fine. I have harvested about 100 bulbs in total.

My question is can i use these bulbs to break into cloves to plant for next year, or do i need to destroy the lot and start again. That will be frustrating as i bought 5 bulbs 5 years ago and have grown into a good crop of elephant garlic.

I understand the weather this year and repeat planting of garlic may cause this neck disease.

Kind regards,

Dan
