Eggs on ivy - what is this?

I noticed these weird growths that look like insect eggs on my Common Ivy - do you know what this is? I don't think they're aphids - because aphids don't lay eggs, do they?

I mean I have a aphid problem as well, for which I might get ladybugs.

I'm pretty sure they're not eggs, but the aerial roots it produces to enable it to cling to walls etc.
There are a few greenfly on the last photo though !
