    Well Nollie, given all the helpful advice from experienced gardeners and Becrolla's insistence that it will live, I don't think my comment was out of line.   Let's hope he or she has learned something which helps them be more successful in future.

    you can buy seed and grow as annual, apparently.

    so, get some seed, a seed tray and seed compost, around march and get yourself a hundred of these things for less than you paid at the show.      Result!

    I had a packet of dahlia seeds in a magazine this year..only sowed some of them and now have two fine plants.  Give it a go next year!

    And I never give up hope on my plants until they have turned into compost...
