Courgettes all male flowers

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
My courgettes seem to be producing only male flowers - apart from one . single courgette now eaten😋
Is this likely to change or should I just enjoy the pretty flowers?

The male flowers appear first, so there's no chance of missing fertilizing a female.
The girls will be along soon enough.

I have the opposite problem with my tromboncino. All girls, no boys. The squash get to about 6 inches without being pollinated so I just pick them once the flower closes.

Hopefully your female and my male flowers will turn up soon.

  • Mine only produced one female. The squash grew to about 3 inches at the beginning of August then fell off. I have enjoyed the flowers but is there anything I can do to encourage more females and to make them stay put until they are a decent size?
