Butterfly

I took a picture of this blue butterfly.  I think it may be an Adonis blue female. Can any one else help with the identity.

Thank you.

Adonis is a good call but the chalk hill blue is very similar. Hard to tell in a faded specimen like this one really.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • The Chalk Hill blue does not start to fly until mid July, but Adonis blues fly in June, so I think Adonis blue is correct.

Maybe I got it wrong and it is a faded common blue female then. :)

Mid july is just the average date and they can be out much earlier in a good year.
