I have a large bleeding heart bush in a small raised bed that I would like to put other plants in. Can I cut it back and keep it healthy or do I have to waiting for it to die down of its own accord? Thanks
Mine are still flowering, but it's normally best to leave until it's died back, as Posy says.
If you think you can safely lift it out with a good rootball, then do so though. If it's well watered first, well watered in, it should be ok. Trim back foliage to make it easier for the plant too. I've often lifted plants when I shouldn't and they've been fine. Depends how bold you feel
