Tomato stem dry brown at base

One of my tomato plants has a stem that is dry and brown at the base. There are nodules above the brown bit that look like incipient roots. The plant looks otherwise ok.
Have I got a problem?
In London. Keen but lazy.

    Can you raise the compost level so that those roots can develop? Then if there is a problem with the stem those new roots can take over. That’s what I’d do 😊
