Shallow rooted plants please?

Hi all, just got a gorgeous terracotta pot from Ikea which cane with a large saucer. So large and deep that I reckon I could put plants into it if they are shallow rooted. Any ideas? It’s 14 inches in diameter and 3 inches deep. Please say if you think it’s a daft idea I won’t take offence

    It sounds ideal for making a 'succulent tray'.  You'll need to drill some drainage holes if it doesn't have any and you want to grow things outside.  If indoors (so you are in complete control of watering) then you may get away without.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
