I wonder why they never go near my elderberry. Something pollinates it though because the berries are forming now.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

My campanula is the most popular now as the Aquilegia have finished.  Have noticed more hoverflies this year, but the wet weather did slow them down.

Salvias, geraniums and Lupins are favourite at the moment, that will change soon.

We didn't have too many here last year but this year the nepeta is throbbing with bumble bees so I think there is a colony nearby. Not too many other speices though.

There are a lot of bumblebees around at the moment, not so many honeybees as there were earlier in the year. The salvias seem to be the favourites.

Lots of different bees, butterfly's, hover fly's, parasitic wasps, ladybirds, and other flying insects at the allotment.

  • Thank you for your replies . I’m really glad to hear that other gardens across the uk are not as quiet as mine on the bee front. It is reassuring.
Mine must be just having a blip then for some reason. Hopefully things will improve with time.

Lots of insect activity in my garden too TGG. Bees are mostly bumbles but a lot of hoverflies too. The viper's bugloss is very popular, common mallow too. Mullein moth caterpillars on the water figwort.

My speedwell was positively humming with bee's Midsummers' Day... bumble, honey... all sorts :)They seem to really love the speedwell and the borage - though the white borage has already finished for this year, the blue is going strong :) These are the favourites of the bees in my garden.
