Laurel trouble.

Hello.

I received an order of 40 laurels on Monday of this week (6 days ago).

I have been been watering them every day without fail.

However I have a few concerns. 90% of the tops of the laurel leaves appear to be drying out and curling up.

There are also black spots under a lot of the leaves. Any advice please?

Thanks.

That looks nasty. You've either been sold some very sick plants or there is something in your soil that doesn't agree with them. Has the area been treated with or used for storing any chemicals?

They look like the early stages of fungal leaf spot, a common problem with Cherry Laurels. But they should recover as long as it's planted in well with a thick mulch to lock in moisture. Keep on top with the watering. If they are more than a meter tall, I recommend you prune of the branches that are deformed and puckered. They will eventually grow out of it.

Yeah they are all good. They have taken a few years to settle in and are often susceptible to the elements but overall they are doing well now.
