Using a rose bowl

ive just bought a couple of old silver plate rose bowls so any roses that are drooping over can go in them rather than waste them.
Do you put water in them or add oasis ?They both have metal meshtops to thread the Ross through...not used them before, thought hey would look good on a table.

When I used one I used a piece of scrunched up chicken wire in the bowl part. The mesh tops weren’t really close enough to hold roses and foliage in place efficiently.

I imagine oasis would also work but I always had chicken wire to hand on a farm. 😊

Cut flowers always need water.  It's up to you whether you use the metal inserts, oasis or both - whatever is the most help in arranging your flowers to your satisfaction.  People have been arranging flowers in bowls and vases long before oasis was invented :)  I'm a jug fan myself.  I can never see a pretty jug in a charity shop without wanting to buy it and put flowers in it.
