Serious issue with my Camellias, are they finished?

Hi All,

I need help identifying what has happened to my Camellias. I wrapped them throughout winter and they looked healthy even flowering for a week or so.

But for some reason, they took a turn for the worse. All the flowers dropped off, and the leaves turned brown/black and also dropped. I did try to recover by showing extra attention - which seemed to produce new leaf growth but those baby leaves also turned black and dropped off.

Does anyone know what happened here, and more importantly how I can save them?

Any help much appreciated.

Are you in a very cold area? Is that why you wrapped them up for the winter? I'm wondering if the roots were frozen and damaged in the pot.

I know someone who has a now large camelia in a large pot and she never covers it in winter, it comes out fine.

Other than that it might be a disease of some sort, sorry I can't be more help but at least this will bump it up for other answers.
