Ideas please?

I quite fancy an obelisk about 6 foot tall with an evergreen plant climbing up it. Firstly, which sort of obelisk would be best and any ideas for an evergreen, hardy plant to go in it - it needs to be fairly controllable as space is limited. It would face North East but is quite sheltered. Soil is quite clay-ey. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,

Consider also the passiflora caerulea if you like it.

It is very easy to see it growing a lot, without any particular attention.

You’ll never keep parthenocissus to 6 ft in height.  Not really the right sort of plant for an obelisk either, or hedera  :/

What about one of the evergreen winter flowering clematis?
