Blackthorn hedge issues

See photos for the problem in my mixed hedge. Blackthorn is suffering from I know not what? Any ideas please on the diagnosis and treatment.

Massive infestation of aphids. Find some ladybirds to eat them.
Or, if you must, spray with a bee friendly insecticide.

I find mine recovers very readily, Susan, but my entire stock of ladybirds seems to live in the hedge
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
