Red Hot Pokers

SalsmithySalsmithy Posts: 28
Hello all. I planted some Red Hot Pikers in the autumn. I had some in my previous garden and I seem to remember they are late flowering. However I saw some in our local park in full bloom the other day. There is no sign of them in my garden yet. Can someone advise if I should be able to see them yet or is there still time? Thanks

Different species flower at different times, anything from May to October.

I'd have thought the plant should have showed some sign of life by now, is there no green leaves at all?

I planted some 9cm pot Wrexham Buttercup RHP early spring and no sign of flower spikes yet, but lots of foliage. The Uvaria bare root ones (from supermarket) have flowered once already but don’t look as if they are going to have another go. As well as different species flowering at different times, I suspect it depends on the maturity of the plant/whether it was a potted plant or bare root etc., as to when and how well they flower... don’t know, just surmising!

Yes they were bare roots so maybe they will take longer. I’ve just been out and had a look and it’s next to a crocosmia and the leaves look similar don’t they? So I’m thinking that there could be some leaves but I can’t tell the difference 🙃
