Does anybody know what these are or whether they are just weeds?

First and last are purple toadflax. It is a weed but it's pretty and not bothersome so I usually leave them be when they come up. The middle one looks to be a different colour but that might just be the photo. Purple toadflax is quite a grey green leaf

  • I usually pull weeds up but I’m going to keep it because I like the name “toadflax” and as you say, it actually looks quite attractive.

I don’t class that as a weed, I sowed the seeds in the first place and leave it to self seed, the bees love it.

You can prune it back in the autumn and get a bigger, bushier plant next year.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

There is a pale pink version called Canon Went.
And there are a couple of white forms I have yet to buy or try. You can get plants and seed is also available.

They do quite well in partial shade too which is nice, the leaves tend to look greener than grey then. They are still a grey hint but not as much as in sun.
I forget to mark where the pink ones are so have to wait until they flower so I do not pull them all up.
