Yes i was sure as there was a few brown squishy roots present i took care of those with a sterial pair of cutters. I was told by many that hydrogen peroxide 3% is a natural fungicide. Even missorchidgirl on youtube recommends it. It also kills pests like snails and gnats that can live in the bark. And also good if you have a case of crown rot too.
I advise to measure the time to the next watering by the weight of the pot. Wait until it's thoroughly dried out and light, then dunk in a bowl water that come up to below the bark chips. Wait for ten mins (not more) then let it drain completely. Be careful to get no water at all in the centre of the plant, as this will likely kill it. Orchids can quite happily deal with dry as the roots are succulent, but are most often killed by overwatering.
Be slightly careful of orchid vids on Youtube that are made in tropical places, like Hawaii. Their advice might be suitable to hot, humid countries.
