Digitalis Help

This year is the first time i've ever grown digitalis from seed, i've only ever brought them potted. My digitalis are coming on really well but i'd like to know do i have to keep them in the greenhouse over the winter  ready for flowering next year or can i plant out this year.

    When did you sow them?

    I sowed mine late last year so only planted them in spring, hopeful for flowers this year though later on.

    You'll want to plant them out in the autumn.

    Plant out later this year when they are larger plants which are better able to survive the odd caterpillar and mollusc attack.  They are completely hardy and will continue growing slowly over winter, establishing a good root system able to support the flower spikes.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    I started mine from seed this year in March.

    Yes, that's what I thought.  The larger the better - I usually plant when the roots fill a 2l pot.
