Competition results

Morning All,

I've noticed that when I look at the competition results recently they never announce who the winners are only to come back and check later.

Is this me or are other people finding the same? If so does anyone know why this is the case.

Thanks
Phil.

I contacted them about this today PianoPhil.  They told me they were going to change it soon as they are not allowed to announce winners names on the website probably due to new GDPR rules.  I suggested they said winners notified instead.  :)

Thanks - sounds very bureaucratic. Yes your message sounds far better.

But it could result in all the Alexes in Berkshire being pestered by firms wanting to sell them accessories for the conservatory they’ve won .... there’s a lot to this data protection stuff that doesn’t immediately spring to mind ...

The funny part is that I received post end of last week for gloves and seeds, which I'm presuming I have won, but wasn't informed I had won...

Possibly the GW website team have a bigger To Do pile than the folk sending out the gloves and seeds? 😂

Enjoy the gloves and seeds 😊

Ns and I publish counties where folks win premium bonds.  Suggest GW does the same. Can't think that by not publishing winners details, there are no winners?

i enter the comps as habit,

@seakale  😊 Various past winners (including myself) have occasionally mentioned that fact on the forum.
The magazine has stated why it no longer publishes the names of winners (see above)  ... but if you don’t trust them the remedy is ... don’t enter 😉

In the 1980s and ‘90s when slogan writing competitions were popular I entered lots, with some success. My first ever prize, before I got into the swing of it, was a modest circuit breaker plug which arrived in the post without any notification or explanation. Thinking it was sent in error, I returned it to Flymo. When later it became clear it was a legitimately won prize, slightly cap in hand I wrote to Flymo asking if I could have my prize back. They cooperated.

I understand that if one writes to GW they can release winners names, maybe only surname.

i can't imagine that BBC can do anything that is against ASA rules.

habit I enter more competitions in winter than summer for me,
