Help with my Salvia Hot Lips

How come my Salvia Hot Lips has reverted back to solid red instead of red and white?

    Welcome to the forum.
    Good taste? lol
Of all the salvia, hot lips is the only one I don't like.

Apparently it is affected by the weather, but it is not clear how. The flowers can also be all white. Mine has red flowers and white flowers, but not bicolours at the moment!

I saw on on TV, perhaps Chelsea, S. amethyst lips. I'm very tempted by that one.
I think it's the red/white combo which puts me off.

I see one every week when I go to play tennis ... it’s a large well established one and quite a large proportion of the flowers are all red.

Mine are mostly red this year. I like how they change.

Now is a perfect time to take cuttings too. They'll root in about 3 or 4 weeks.

Mine seem to start off red, then red and white, and finally white as the days shorten. I seem to remember Carol Klein saying that "Amethyst Lips" does the same thing, certainly mine are all plain purple at the moment.
