    I really don't see the point of the 'like' button, but if others want to use it that's entirely up to them.

    @Daniel Haynes although I missed it entirely, thank you for holding the poll. It didn’t go ‘my’ way, but I didn’t expect it to and fully respect the outcome, as well as your forbearance, honorable intentions and good humour throughout.

    It was very unfortunate some perceived it as biased (inevitable I’m afraid, with the two ‘keep it’ options) and in retrospect a simple yes/no would have avoided that. However, whether a forum has a like button or not is an extremely trivial matter in the grand scheme of things, time to ‘get over ourselves’ and get back to gardening  :)

    While I should probably let sleeping dogs lie, I think this article on the BBC today really helps explain why a lot of people don't like the like button in principal. Maybe it will help explain a lot of the bad feeling towards it to the people who voted to keep it?

    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    IMHO the only point of folk wanting "likes" on their posts is simple vanity and ego.
