Get in run over by a car and have a leg amputation. Only joking but that is what happened to mine now he's got no chance of getting a bird. He keeps trying but gets nowhere near. This is Chester minus 1 leg
Oh bless him!! Was this recent? Poor boy. He’s still very handsome  :)

I once knew a cat that was in an RTA and had his jaw broken, the vet repaired it but several teeth were lost.  That put paid to his hunting.  A bit drastic though.

I think she might need some teeth removing soon. Do you think this might stop her once they are removed?

I think the consensus is that cats don’t make any real impact on bird numbers.  They can usually only catch weak/injured ones that were always going to be got by a predator of some sort.

You can can only do your best, don’t beat yourself up too much if she outsmarts you and gets one every now and then.

We have another rescue cat, with only three legs, (rear offside missing) and he can run like the clappers.

Hopefully @BirminghamMarc1972 reads this - that would cheer him up 😊

We had an indoor cat and she managed to catch Swift’s as they flew past the open window! We were on the second floor it was incredible but I hated it. Surprisingly she never fell out of the window even when she launched into the air to catch the birds. Resorted to opening only the kitchen as the Swift’s never went to that side.

needless to say they were not “sick” birds, just a quick, agile cat with hunting instincts. Honestly cats either have the knack or they don’t. My current one thinks the blue tits visiting make great tv but are not worthy of her using her energy.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
