Dobies / Dobbies ex Wyvale

Our local Wyevale has just changed its name to Dobbies. Is that the same as Dobies? I had rather hoped it might be when I heard about it but am not sure now I've seen the spelling. Anyone know?

    Wyevale have sold a number of their garden centres to Dobbies, who are another big garden centre chain. I hadn't come across Dobies before but their website says they have no connection with Dobbies. Sorry!

    Dobbies and Dobies are two different companies  - very confusing though !

    Ah ok! Thank you for that. I did some research but probably did not look at the correct website.

    The two wyevales in Northampton have been sold to Dobbies I believe wyevale in Wellingborough has been sold to a Higgins landscape company, Dobbies are from Scotland I believe.

    Yes, they are. Started in the late 1860's l think. Granny bee, l think you're right, there will be others equally confused l'm sure  :)

    As a child in the 1960's I'd look forward every autumn to the seed catalogues from Dobies Seeds and Carter's Seeds who were well known then

    I bet the first company who started trading is pissed off that another company can just come along and start trading with a near identical name living off their reputation. The one I always remember was Victoria plumb trading for years then Victoria plumbing popping up
