Bindweed!!! Evil, evil, evil. Dig it out as thoroughly as you can and as deep as you can removing as much of the white worm like roots as you can. And be vigilant to keep removing it and after a while you will kill it. Personally although more work that’s a better solution than dousing it in chemicals.
