Hi there I'm new on here and just seeing if anyone with more knowledge knows what's happening here.
I have some foliage growing out the side of one of my cucumbers (lower left of picture) have been growing for a few years now and I have never seen this before does anyone know why this would happen?

Variety is F1 mini petita, growing in compost.

Thanks
Mark

Hi @lufc1919. I've never seen anything like it before on a cucumber.  Don't think it's vivipary, which can happen with tomatoes or strawberries growing leaves from the fruit.

Can only guess that it might be some kind of mutation of cells in that part of the fruit. I'm wondering whether a tiny speck of insect damage could've set it off?

Other than that one freaky cuke, your whole plant and all the other fruits look very healthy👍😀.

I hope one of the more knowledgeable experts on the forum can come up with the proper answer for you.
