Can anyone identify this plant?  Sprouted at the back of the border over 6ft tall and growing!!!  Looks verbena like with square stems but are smooth.

    Pics pretty blurred but I'll have a go. Could be Scrophularia auriculata (or nodosa)

    Any running water at the back of your border?

    Certainly one of the figworts ... my bet is Scrophularia nodosa, the Common Figwort, as the stem looks wrong for the Water Figwort. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
