Do you think the stripes are pinkish or purple-ish? I got a lovely clematis catalogue (with an even lovelier plant  :) ) if pink it could be nelly moser or purple best wishes. As for cuttings, sorry I failed spectacularly this week.....

I think it's a Nelly Moser.  Very easy to find in supermarkets and garden centres - far easier than striking cuttings!

However, if you want to try,

May I also highjack this thread to ask what variety my lovely clematis might be?

This website can be used to search for clematis by the colour of the tepals and stamens and so on.   http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/

Give it a go but beware, you will end up with clematis envy and might just become a clemaholic.

It looks very like Clematis Viticella venosa violacea which had just started to bloom a trifle early in my garden.

It it looked fabulous lash year scrambling through Rosa Bonica so I’m allowing it to do that again this year rather than tiring it in up the fence.

Not a great photo but you get the general idea ... the amount of white in each bloom tends to vary in my experience.

I always take clematis cuttings around June. Dipped in hormone powder and put around the outside of a shallow clay pan in a very gritty compost. Kept in the shade in the greenhouse until they root. Probably a 50% success rate so take quite a few. Once they are rooted I pot them on and put outside.

I've no idea what Plantsnap is, but Erasha's clem couldn't be less like Nelly if it tried  :D
Dove's suggestion looks a pretty accurate one

I'm not sure the OP's is NM either.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
