So, I would have been exactly at the same place as I am now? That makes me feel better, at least I didn’t screw up on this. I’m thinking if there is no asbestos, light, very light sanding might do it. Otherwise, wait and see if they fall off in time. Right now it looks absolutely horrible, a real eyesore. We had a five year plan, this is not a good start.
I have come with good news. Just received the asbestos report this morning. No asbestos. Great news. One less problem, but still have to figure a way to get the ivy off, so I don’t have to wait forever for it to fall off, if it ever will.
That is good news Carol. I get the impression that you are not in the UK? No matter, unfortunately there is no easy way I know of getting dead stems off stucco. I doubt sandpapering will do it and if you try to prise individual stems off, you run the risk of pulling bits of stucco off as well. If you can wait and hope for a dry hot summer, the stems will go crispy and lose their "clinginess" ability. It's then slightly easier to prise the stems off but it's a long hard job - I've done it on a Bath stone house.
No, i’m In Vancouver, Canada, lots and lots of rain. Burning them off might be an option, or check into the cost of vinyl siding , If we can afford it . That might work, because that option is available to us now which would not have been with asbestos.
