    What about Coleus?  I'm rooting a bunch in water today to expand those horizons. :)  There are so many colorful varieties and different leaf shapes to choose from.  Mine love their shade tree setting where only a bit of sunshine peeks through:

    The coleus look great, but they're not hardy in most of the UK. We normally think of them as houseplants.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
